Location information is important to help monitor areas known to be infested.
Previously unknown areas should be noted and added to our lake data.
The following activities qualify for volunteer hours associated with our DNR grant:
- Diving for weeds, including the use of your equipment or rental charges 'usual and customary.'
- Pulling weeds.
- Monitoring weeds in the lake.
- Driving a boat for divers.**
- Providing a boat to transport diving team.
- Serving or preparing food for milfoil activities.
- Taking pictures of milfoil and associated activity.
- Attending a committee or lake association meeting to specifically discuss milfoil.
- Attendanced at educational meetings.
- Coordinating volunteer activities.
- Creating grants, letters, website, etc.
- Researching milfoil with the DNR and other experts.
** We are assembling a list of available boats and also boat drivers for future dive team work.
We are required to transport the divers and their equipment from site to site. At least two
boats/drivers will be need for our budgeted 6 to 10 dives in the future. The divers assist
the teams with the removal of the plants and materials by putting them into tubs and buckets
for disposal on land.
